FAQ
Q-Can I buy shoes from you online?
A-We built our reputation on fitting and assisting people find a great shoe. If you already have a great shoe and just need to replace it we would be happy to send you a new pair. Please email us at Brainsport@brainsport.ca with what model and size you need. Shipping and handling is $10 -$15.
Q-I know my daughter’s/spouse’s shoe size. Can I buy shoes for them?
A-While we prefer to fit each customer, if that is not possible we will sell you shoes. Please have the recipient try the shoes indoors, keep the box and receipt as these are required for any returns. The shoes must be returned in clean, resellable condition. Another option would be a gift certificate.
Q-What is your best shoe?
A-We have many great shoes. The best shoe is the one that fits you and supports you properly. This is not necessarily the most expensive shoe.
Q-I’ve never been a size 10 before, what’s up?
A-Various factors affect shoe size. As we age our feet can flatten out and your foot size will change. Women often find their feet change size after having children. Shoe sizing between brands and models can vary. You might wear a 9 ½ in one brand but a 10 in another.
Q-I’ve never worn a size 10; I’ve always worn a size 9.
A-We often find people wear shoes that are too small for them. Snug fitting shoes can feel comfortable if you have become accustomed to that but that can lead to foot problems that can be avoided by wearing a correct fitting shoe.
Q-Can I order shoes or clothing you don’t carry?
A-If it is from a company that we already deal with and it is available for sale in Canada we will try and bring it in for you. For items we do not stock we may charge a non-refundable deposit in case you don’t accept the item and we have to send it back.
Q-What is your return policy?
A-We have a 30-day return policy. Shoes must be returned with the box and receipt and must only have been worn indoors, be clean, and in resellable condition. We encourage you to try your shoes indoors to make sure they are suitable before wearing them outside. Clothing must be returned with tags and receipt. Please don’t wear them for a run and then expect to return them.
Q-Do you have orthotic friendly shoes?
A-Yes, all the running or walking shoes we carry have removable inlays so that you can put your orthotics in. Fashion shoes and sandals for the most part are not orthotic friendly.
Q-Do you make orthotics?
A-No, nor do we make adjustments to shoes. We can refer you to several podiatrists who we work closely with.
Q-How long should a pair of shoes last?
A-There are a lot of factors that affect how long a shoe lasts. How hard you are on them, do you wear them on a treadmill or outside and they get wet often, are you running many miles in preparation for a marathon? Manufacturers often suggest a shoe will last 500 to 800 kms. We suggest you replace your running shoes anywhere between 6 and 12 months.
Q-Where can I park?
A-There is metered parking on Broadway and part of the side streets close to Broadway. We have a small parking lot behind Pedestrian Shoe Fitting Centre, which is shared with two other businesses. You can also park on residential streets and should find something within a block of the store.
Q-How warm will this clothing be or what temperature can I wear this to?
A- Every individual tolerates and generates temperatures differently. The basics to keep in mind for cold weather are to dress in layers of synthetic material. You should wear a base layer and wind protection. As it gets colder you add an insulating layer between your base layer and outer layer. You should feel cool when you first head outside in winter, if you are comfortable when you start out you will be too warm in about 10 minutes of running.
