Ali Bacon crossed the finish line of the 10K at Step Up for Mental Health - presented by Cameco - on Sunday and dropped to one knee. She wasn't tired... instead, she was proposing.
"I had no idea the proposal was coming... I was very surprised. I definitely said 'Yes'," stated Kaitlyn Hofstra.
The proposal is another step in an incredible journey over the last year - that involves running and dedication.
"My partner completed a year of sobriety (on Saturday)," continued Kaitlyn. "She has always been into the gym and fitness, running on and off though. Her addiction really took over her life for many years.
"She went to treatment in the fall of last year and... she has been sober since (one year on September 26th). She tried to maintain her love of running and fitness throughout her addiction struggles but it’s really been her saving grace this last year. Nothing but consistency now that her life is more manageable. Her story is very inspirational.
"We have three kids (mixed family) and all of us have participated for the last three races," explained Kaitlyn. "Another great year at Step Up!"
