On the radio in the morning - on trails in afternoon

Gregger is one of Saskatoon's most recognizable media personalities. Hosting the morning show on Kick 98 FM - former 98 Cool - the high-energy radio host is at work at 3 a.m. on weekdays and on the air until Noon.

But while he's in the spotlight for several hours nearly every morning, Gregger is an avid runner who can disappear into the quiet zone of running in the afternoon.

"Ive been running for probably 10 to 15 years," said the 47-year-old. "The 20-year-old version of me wouldn't believe how much I've run."

Every person has their reasons for running and for Gregger, it's really simple. "Running has become my mental health break," he explained. "It lets me clear my head... it is such a help for me."

A veteran of nearly 10 half-marathons, Gregger will run the 10K at Step Up for Mental Health - presented by Cameco - on September 27th in Saskatoon. And while he calls that race "a perfect fit", he is adamant that he won't be training for another ultra marathon.

"I ran the Grizzly Ultra Marathon when I turned 40... and that almost broke me," he said with a laugh. "I came-in under trained and I had to walk for almost 45 minutes eating salt pills (during the race) until I could run again."

It was a lesson-learned, but seven years later - it hasn't impacted his love for running.

"I get up at 2 a.m. to go to work... and I'm on the air until Noon. I then try to go for a run or a workout on the way home," he continued. "On the weekends I do longer runs. We are so lucky to have places to run (along the river in Saskatoon)."
