Kaden Nilson definitely sounds confident about his prediction for the Whiteswan Mile this coming weekend in Saskatoon.
The Saskatoon Road Runners are presenting the annual one-mile race on Sunday in the Bridge City.
"We are going to see a lot of provincial records go down," stated Nilson, a personable member of the organizing committee, while chatting on the phone earlier this week.
"For all five heats, we are expecting 120 (runners) for the event (in total).
"We have 20 high-level guys (in the men's Invitation heat) and we would love to see times that are faster than 4:10."
The course is new this year, with the entire event now on the University of Saskatchewan campus, with the start and finish line near Innovation Place. The change happened for two reasons. "The first big reason is we didn't have a centralized location (for participants and spectators) and the second reason is that in order to have (the event) certified for provincial and national records... we needed a flatter course that wasn't point-to-point."
